How long have you been collecting Jaws stuff for?
I’d say probably about 11 years. How did you start? I’ve always been into sharks, Jaws in particular, since I was a kid. But it really started once I looked on eBay and saw what was out there. You buy one thing and then it just escalates. The weirder the stuff the better.

What’s your favourite thing in your collection?
I used to collect Marvel stuff too, so I really like the Spiderman vs Jaws comic. And I like the beer can that was bought for me the other week. The shark’s head is pretty special as well. When my missus went out I put it on the dining room wall — that went down pretty well.

Where did you get your stuff from?
It’s from all over. The Spiderman vs Jaws comic was a present from Crommy (the Mego Collector).

Where do you think man’s need to collect comes from?
I don’t know really. It’s quite a Manc thing to be obsessive and to collect. I know a lot of people who collect stuff and get right into it.

What else do you collect?
I collect old funk records — I’ve got quite a lot of records — a good few thousand. I used to collect Marvel stuff too but I’ve got two kids and if there’s a big box of toys in the attic, it’s a done deal isn’t it — they’re getting opened.

When will you stop?
I don’t know. I can’t see it ever not being interesting — to own something that’s got a shark on it.
